Display, touch and form Factor:
Redmi 4A has 5 inch(12.7 CM) HD display. It is good enough under sunlight to read out everything in it.HD videos look good and viewing angle is also good. There is no negative about the display and also users can control the warmness of the display as per their usage. Touch is smooth and responsive. 10 finger touch is supported. Now the form factor. Being a budget device the looks is too good and the feel while having it in hand good. It feels like you are holding a mid budget range premium phone. Though the built material is plastic but you can feel the plasticness while having it in hand, also the separation lines throughout the upper portion and lower portion look good from the back. The weight of the device is 131.5 gm which is even lighter than Redmi 3S. The buttons are solid and work good as of now.
Comparing with Redmi 3S, personally both feels almost same though R3S has rounded back side corners. But it is lot lighter than R3S and anyone can feel that.
1st of all we need to keep in mind that it is a budget device. It’s 13 MP shooter captures good photos in daylight. Though in low light there is lot of noise which is common. Front camera with beautify option works pretty good for selfies. Girls will love it.. 😛 The best part which I liked most is the focus timing of the rear camera, even on HDR mode it focused so quickly, which is bit faster than R3S, believe me I used that too.. 😉 So for camera, it is a pick.
It will be too early to judge the performance of this device as I am using it for 24 hours only. I mostly used all the social apps and google apps like gmail, youtube and Chorme. As of now I didn’t face any major lag not even it is taking time to launch any app. Almost 1.2 gb is free after a fresh boot which is normal on MIUI. And after launching 5-6 apps the free RAM comes down to 750 mb which is normal. As it has MIUI so it kills the app in the background after launching several apps (don’t know when they will improve this).
Antutu and geekbench4 stats in the pic.
So as per the performance, it is a pick as of now.
I played NOVA 3 and Asphalt 8 on this device for like 2-3 hours (as I didn’t get enough time to test more games). What I feel that it takes more than usual time to load the games(which should be like this on a Adreno 308 GPU). During the gameplay, there is extremely minor lag one can feel but it comes after playing like 1 hour. But those lags doesn’t hamper your gameplay. I’ll play more games and review it later.
It will be very early to comment on the battery life of the device. I am using dual SIM and 4G internet on it. I played games for 2 hours and watched youtube videos for 1 hour almost, rest using social apps. And the battery stat is below after the use. For a 3120 MAH battery, it is pretty good.
This is the 1st impression of this newly launched budget device, Redmi 4A.
Final verdict: Personally I feel that the price of Redmi 4A should be 5,499/- instead of 5,999/-. If someone’s budget is extremely tight and can’t invest more, then Redmi4A is the perfect device available in the market. If anyone wants to gift it to their parents or any elderly person then they can go for it. But if you can invest 1K more then go for Redmi 3S because of more battery and slightly better performance. Or if you can wait, then wait for the successor of Redmi 3S which will be launching very soon( No date announced yet).
If you guys wants to anything else then comment below, I’ll try to test on it.
